T-Rex Rosin Press

The T-Rex allows you to make extracts that are similar to BHO although much purer; no gas is needed so it’s not nearly as dangerous either. This device was made in the United States by Tarik and Rosin, two extremely experienced growers.

Rosin was the first to discover that at the right temperature you can extract up to 80% of all active cannabinoids from buds in just a few minutes. His technique was initially simple; a hair-straightener and oven paper. He placed a bud in between a piece of paper and then pressed incredibly hard with a hot hair straightener. When finished, there was an oily sticky resin substance stuck to the oven paper.

The issue with this technique is that it was pretty detrimental to hair straighteners; after all, they weren’t designed for extracting resin. After buying and breaking plenty of straighteners, they ended up inventing the T-Rex, an affordable and easy to use device in which you can adjust the temperature from 100 to 150ºC.

In order to turn it on, press the ON/OFF button and the screen should turn on, showing the temperature in degrees. You can adjust to around 125ºC, pressing the plus or minus buttons to raise or lower the temperature. Prepare around 1g of bud and place it in between some oven paper (bent over itself so the oil doesn’t come out of the sides), and then place it between the plaques and press for 9-12 seconds.

Once your extract is done, turn the T-Rex off and let it cool down for at least 20 minutes before using it again to guarantee maximum durability. It’s extremely important to keep it clean after every use; use a clean cloth with some rubbing alcohol to get rid of stains and sticky bits.

If you use this device as maximum temperature you’ll get a darker result with more CBD in it, whereas for the maximum amount of THC you need to set it to 100-110ºC. These extracts are the most potent form of cannabis out there and have many medicinal uses; now they’re much easier and safer to make at home without needing dangerous materials.
