Bluelab Pen Ec-meter

Ec Pen by Bluelab is one of the best Ec-meter on the market. High quality and waterproof product so that you don't need to be afraid in case your instrument slips out of your hands into the water if you are working next to the reservoir. The materials used in the manufacturing are of good quality and this can be felt by simply holding it. 

It features a backlit LCD screen, in light blue color. 

The reading of the Ec value is immediate. All we have to do is turn it on and submerge it in the reservoir and read the value. Then, we'll adjust the dose of fertilizers, if the value displayed on the screen is below what is due at that specific week of the cycle. If we realize there are not many salts in the water, we'll have to lower the conductivity by adding distilled water to the tank.

Reminder of appropriate values:

• Seeds: Ec 0.4-0.6
• Vegetative growth: Ec 1.2-1.4
• Flowering: Ec 1.8-2.0

To water our plants we must always use nutrient solution at ambient temperature so that plants don't experience a thermal shock or get stressed. Water that is too cool would be unnatural since when it rains outside, water is at the same temperature as the air.

Every time we take measurements we have to wash the probe, using tap water, and dry the tip carefully, almost without touching the probe. This way, your instrument's service life will be prolonged and the calibration will last longer.

Ec meters can be kept without submerging them in water, unlike pH ones.

In order to calibrate it, a 1500ppm calibration envelope is needed. Submerge the meter in it and press the CAL button for a couple of seconds and it'll be ready to work once the CAL word appears on the screen.
